Later, as he progressed through training at Cornell, Sackler and the University of Illinois, that interest flourished into a passion for all things related to surgery of the hand.

While hand surgery may sound like a very subspecialized field, Dr. Mayerfield embraces an all-inclusive approach to the betterment of patients by utilizing techniques from various surgical disciplines, including:

  • Microsurgery
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Plastic surgery
  • Trauma surgery
  • Vascular surgery
  • Neurosurgery
